With the 40 years of establishment in Hong Kong, China Overseas Holdings Limited (hereinafter referred to as “COHL” or “the Group”) upholds the spirit of “Four decades of ingenuity, Embracing a bright future” and is pleased to release the Sustainability Report 2018 (hereinafter referred to as “the report”) to demonstrate the Group’s effort on sustainable development to stakeholders in the ninth consecutive year.

COHL released its first independent CSR Report in 2010 for public reference. With continuous efforts of the Group for taking its environmental protection, social and governance work to greater heights, in 2016 the Group officially replaced the traditional CSR Report with the Sustainability Report. The move hopes to gradually increase the disclosure level and transparency of the relevant sustainability performances of the Group and its major subsidiaries.

The report adapted “Responsibility and Mission at Heart, Expanding a Happy Living Environment” as the theme, which has integrated the meaning of the corporate mission of “Expanding a Happy Living Environment”. It shows the integration of social responsibility into company operation and balance of the stakeholders’ expectations to create a win-win situation for social and economic value, and the Group’s endeavor to build a happy living environment for the stakeholders.

The report is prepared with reference to mainly the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, including the material issues of COHL which the stakeholders concerned. The material issues cover employee, corporate governance, environment and social.
